Pallet racking is a heavy duty storage system that is used in warehouses to store item horizontally and vertically.
The items are stacked on pallets and placed on a shelf.
The storage allows easy access for convenience. There a lot of different types of pallet racking and ensure you get the right pallet racking for size and weight is essential.
When choosing the right pallet racking you may be tempted to be swayed by price alone but there are a few factors you need to consider.
- For longevity and strength it is advisable you chose a system made of steel components instead of aluminium or fibreglass.
- For large heavy goods chose heavy duty pallet racks that can be bolted together as opposed to snapping together.
- We advise you chose pallet racking systems that offer add on units so you have the option of adding more units at a later date.
- Make sure you order all your accessories with your initial order e.g. mesh decking, row spacers, all safety supports (we advise also to buy a few extra of these as over time due to weight and possible damage they may need replacing).
- Make sure you analyse the area where you are wanting to construct your pallet racking to make sure there is ample room for drive in pallet racking if your business requires this.
- It could be you chose push-back pallet racking. This supports multiple tiers of pallets, but instead of stacking them on top one another they are stacked behind one another.
- Maybe you need selective pallet racking, this is a girder system in which pallets are all individually exposed so any one can be taken at one time without disturbing the other.
